Ding defence in disarray

Nationwide South - Yeading 2 Eastbourne Borough 2

Alain Tait's hat-trick keeps up Eastbourne's slim play-off hopes, but is was some slack Ding defending in a difficult wind that saw Yeading's unbeaten run at the Warren come to an end.

Yeading will rue letting slip early pressure and a lead. Ben Hudell's free kick turned over on fifteen minutes by Lee Hook and Liam Collins' twenty first minute goal showed good promise for the home side but it was shortlived.

In their first real attack on twenty four minutes, Eastbourne split the defence with a diagonal pass that Tait ran onto, rounding Ding 'keeper Luke Blackmore and slotting into the empty net.

With Yeading rocked, the visitors took advantage taking the lead two minutes later when Pat Harding slotted home past Blackmore.

Blackmore made a further block from Tait and missed a punch that required Tom Cadmore to chest off the line, all before half-time, but at 2-1 the game still looked there for the taking by either side.

Yeading started the brighter and on fifty five minutes Michael Barima on the overlap should have equalised but his side footed lob was low enough for Hook to fingertip away for a corner.

As Yeading pushed on for a goal so Eastbourne exposed gaps in their defence.

On seventy one minutes a long ball in the wind saw Tom Cadmore misjudge the bounce and Tait nipped in behind to net his second.

Seconds later with the Ding defence still in disarray, Scott Ramsey pounced on a loose ball to slot home Boro's fourth.

Tait's hat-trick came on seventy six minutes with Cadmore only able to help the ball home with his desperate slide on the line.

Yeading composed themselves and had the best of the remainder. Richard Goddard's powerful header from Ben Hudell's seventy-eighth minute corner brought the only consolation, with Hook denying both Marvin Morgan and Adam Everitt in the remaining minutes.
